AEROPOD

"Streamlined handlebar mounted cycling bag."

Aeropod is designed for distance racers to reduce or minimize the drag caused by air as an object moves though it or by wind that strikes and flows around an object.

In my experience as an endurance cyclist and racer, nutrition and aerodynamics are some of the most important factors to pay attention to, especially when the competitions are more than forty miles.
Ideation
Taking my personal experience, I wanted to design a unique yet obvious solution to the problem: A hard shell cycling case mounted to the handlebars that is easy to access, light weight, and aerodynamically efficient.
Mechanism System
To keep the complexity of the assembly low, I decided to incorporate compliant mechanisms for the hinges of the hatch. This not only meant the entire case could be 3D printed in two halves, it could be done cheaply as well.

I wanted the mounting system to be based around clamping to the handlebars directly with the case snapping to the mount with a very secure fit; bringing the total part count after printing (M4 Allen bolts not included) to six!
